In 2003, General Motors asked bonspeed to take the Pontiac Sunfire, a staple of rental car fleets, and give it a tuner-car edge! bonspeed had less than two months to create the vehicle that was set to debut in the GM booth at the International Auto Salon.
Wide-body flares were sculpted directly to the body of the car. In the rear, the flares are hand-formed steel and in front, they are fiberglass. An original front and rear fascia were designed, as was the aluminum and steel wing. Almost every part of the car was restyled from the interior to the bonspeed special mix DuPont “Road Stripe Yellow” paint. The car utilized only the very best components and was met with rave reviews by such publications as Road & Track and AutoWeek.
